Save time with reusable quote structures.
What Are Templates?
Templates save:
- Line items and descriptions
- Section structure
- Default pricing (optional)
- Terms and notes
Apply templates to start new quotes with pre-filled content.
Creating Templates
From Existing Quote
Open a Quote
Find a quote you want to save as template.
Click Save as Template
In the quote menu, select Save as Template.
Name Your Template
Give it a descriptive name:
- "Kitchen Remodel - Standard"
- "Bathroom - Full Gut"
- "Exterior Paint - 2 Story"
Choose What to Include
- Line items (always)
- Prices (optional)
- Terms (optional)
- Notes (optional)
Save
Template appears in your template library.
From Scratch
- Go to Settings → Quote Templates
- Click + New Template
- Add sections and items
- Set default prices
- Save template
Using Templates
Apply to New Quote
- Click + New Quote
- Select From Template
- Choose your template
- Quote pre-fills with template items
- Customize as needed
Apply to Existing Quote
- Open a draft quote
- Click Import → From Template
- Select template
- Choose to:
- Replace all items
- Add to existing items

Job Type Templates
Pre-built for common jobs:
- Kitchen remodel
- Bathroom remodel
- Room addition
- Deck/patio
- Exterior paint
- Roof replacement
Line Item Templates
Reusable item groups:
- Standard door package
- Electrical rough-in
- Plumbing fixtures
- Cabinet package
Terms Templates
Standard language:
- Payment terms
- Warranty info
- Exclusions list
- Legal disclaimers
Managing Templates
Edit Templates
- Go to Settings → Quote Templates
- Click template name
- Make changes
- Save
Editing a template doesn't change quotes already created from it.
Organize Templates
- Categories - Group by job type
- Favorites - Star frequently used
- Archive - Hide outdated templates
Delete Templates
- Select template
- Click Delete
- Confirm deletion
Existing quotes are not affected.
Template Best Practices
Keep Templates Current
- Update prices quarterly
- Review items annually
- Remove discontinued products
Be Specific but Flexible
Good template names:
- "Kitchen - Standard Finishes"
- "Kitchen - Premium Finishes"
- "Kitchen - Budget Option"
Too vague:
- "Kitchen"
- "Remodel"
Include Notes
Add template notes for context:
- When to use this template
- What it includes/excludes
- Assumptions made
Sharing Templates
Team Access
All templates are shared with your team:
- Any user can apply templates
- Admins can edit templates
- Templates follow permissions
Export Templates
Share outside your organization:
- Select template
- Click Export
- Download as JSON file
- Share file
Import Templates
Add templates from others:
- Go to Settings → Quote Templates
- Click Import
- Upload JSON file
- Review and save

BuildVision includes starter templates:

Template Variables
Use placeholders that auto-fill:
