Supplier Price Lists
Manage pricing from your vendors for faster quoting.
What Are Price Lists?
Price lists store supplier pricing for materials and products. When creating quotes:
- Pull items directly from price lists
- Prices auto-fill
- Track pricing history
- Update when suppliers change prices
Creating a Price List
Go to Price Lists
Navigate to Settings → Price Lists or Quotes → Price Lists.
Create New List
Click + New Price List.
Enter Supplier Info

| Valid Date | When prices expire |
Add Items
For each item, enter:
- Item Code/SKU - Supplier's code
- Description - Product name
- Unit - EA, LF, SF, etc.
- Unit Price - Supplier's price
- Category - Optional grouping
Save
Your price list is ready to use.
Import from Spreadsheet
Bulk import pricing:
- Click Import → From Spreadsheet
- Download the template CSV
- Fill in your data:
SKU, Description, Unit, Price, Category ABC123, 2x4x8 Stud, EA, 4.25, Lumber DEF456, OSB 4x8 7/16, EA, 28.00, Sheathing - Upload completed file
- Review and confirm import
For large price lists, spreadsheet import is much faster than manual entry.
Using Price Lists in Quotes
Add Items from Price List
- In your quote, click + Add from Price List
- Select supplier
- Search or browse items
- Click items to add
- Adjust quantities as needed
Quick Search
Type in the search box to find items:
- By description
- By SKU
- By category
Apply Your Markup
Items import at supplier cost. Apply markup:
- Per item
- Per section
- Quote-wide
Price List Features
Multiple Suppliers
Create separate lists for each supplier:
- Lumber yard
- Electrical supplier
- Plumbing wholesaler
- Hardware store
Compare prices across suppliers when quoting.
Categories
Organize items within a list:
- Lumber
- Hardware
- Fasteners
- Finishes
Filter by category when adding to quotes.
Item Notes
Add notes to items:
- Minimum order quantities
- Lead times
- Alternative products
- Special instructions
Updating Prices
Manual Update
- Open price list
- Click item to edit
- Update price
- Save
Bulk Update
Apply percentage change:
- Select items (or all)
- Click Bulk Update
- Enter percentage (+5%, -10%)
- Review and apply
Import Updates
Re-import from updated spreadsheet:
- Matching SKUs update
- New SKUs add
- Missing SKUs optionally remove
Price History
Track pricing over time:
- Click any item
- View Price History tab
- See all price changes with dates
- Compare to previous quotes
Price history helps you understand material cost trends and adjust estimates accordingly.
Best Practices
Keep Lists Current
- Update quarterly at minimum
- Request updated pricing from suppliers
- Flag items with volatile pricing
Organize Effectively
- One list per supplier
- Consistent categories
- Clear descriptions
Review Before Quoting
- Check prices are current
- Verify units are correct
- Confirm items in stock
Sharing Price Lists
Team Access
Price lists are shared organization-wide:
- All team members can use
- Admins can edit
- Prevents duplicate lists
Export
Share outside BuildVision:
- Open price list
- Click Export
- Download as CSV or Excel
- Share as needed
Linking to Takeoff
When takeoff items have standard names:
- System suggests matching price list items
- Click to link
- Future takeoffs auto-match
Troubleshooting
Q: Can't find an item
- Check search spelling
- Try partial search
- Browse by category
- Item may be in different supplier list
Q: Prices seem wrong
- Check unit of measure matches
- Verify list is current
- Confirm supplier hasn't changed pricing
