Understanding Line Items
Each line item represents a priced component:
Description: Interior Door, 3'0" x 6'8" Hollow Core
Quantity: 8 EA
Unit Price: $450.00
Line Total: $3,600.00Adding Line Items
Manual Entry
- Click + Add Item
- Fill in fields:
- Description (required)
- Quantity
- Unit (EA, LF, SF, etc.)
- Unit Price
- Total calculates automatically
From Takeoff
When importing from takeoff:
- Description from detection type
- Quantity from measurement
- Unit based on measurement type
- You add unit price
From Price List
- Click + Add from Price List
- Search or browse items
- Select items to add
- Prices pre-filled
- Adjust quantities as needed
Editing Line Items
Click any line item to edit:
Quick Edit
Click inline to change:
- Description text
- Quantity number
- Unit price
Full Edit
Click Edit or double-click for full panel:
- All fields accessible
- Notes and details
- Cost tracking
- Category assignment
Bulk Operations
Work with multiple items:
Select Multiple
- Click checkboxes
- Or Shift-click for range
- Or Ctrl/Cmd-click for specific items
Bulk Actions
- Delete - Remove selected
- Move - To different section
- Duplicate - Copy items
- Markup - Apply to all selected
- Category - Assign category
Units of Measure
Common construction units:

Consistent units make estimates easier to compare and understand.

Group related line items:
Creating Sections
- Click + Add Section
- Name the section
- Drag items into section
- Or add items directly
Section Features
- Subtotals - Each section shows its total
- Collapse/Expand - Hide details
- Section Markup - Different markup per section
- Section Notes - Explanatory text

By Trade:

Reordering
Drag and Drop
- Drag items to reorder within section
- Drag between sections
- Drag sections to reorder
Sort Options
Auto-sort items by:
- Description (A-Z)
- Price (high to low)
- Quantity
- Custom order
Item Details
Expand any item for more detail:
Cost Tracking
- Cost - Your actual cost
- Markup - % or $ markup
- Price - Client-facing price
Client sees price only.
Notes
Add internal or external notes:
- Internal - Team reference only
- External - Shown to client

Formulas
Use formulas for calculated items:
Percentage of Subtotal
General Conditions: 10% of SubtotalWaste Factor
Flooring: 450 SF × 1.10 (10% waste)Labor Calculation
Labor: Material × 0.65 (65% of material cost)Test formulas before sending - make sure calculations are correct.
Item Templates
Save frequently used items:
- Create a line item
- Click Save as Template
- Reuse in future quotes
- Manage in Settings → Quote Templates
Troubleshooting
Q: Item total is wrong
Check: Quantity × Unit Price = Total Clear and re-enter if calculation seems stuck.
Q: Can't delete item
May be linked to takeoff. Unlink first, then delete.
Q: Sections not showing
Check view settings - sections may be collapsed.
